I just got my Shapeoko Pro XXL set up and was running the first GRBL configuration. I sent the configuration data with the right model and when testing the proximity sensors by touching them with a wrench, I noticed that the Z sensor was registering as X. I figured I had the wires backwards so I checked my controller and made sure it was connected correctly and it was.
Trying to correct the issues, I swapped the z and x proximity sensor connectors at the controller and tan the test again. The z sensors still registers are x!!! How can this be?
Please let us know about this at support@carbide3d.com — be sure to send photos showing how things are wired up/connected at the controller and to mention specifically that swapping the wiring did not work.
The limit connections run through all three connectors, so it shouldn’t matter if you mix them up at the board as long as they are wired correctly before that connection.
Is the X registering as Z as well?
If so, maybe your extensions are mixed up. Otherwise, the header is probably wired incorrectly (pins in the incorrect spot).
X is registering as Z which is what made me think I had them mixed up. Swapping them out at the controller didn’t change anything which is what seems weird to me.
How would I fixed the mixed up connections if that is the issue?
The thing that matters on the limit switch wires is where the pins are in the headers at the board. You’ll have to swap the connections at the other end of the wire harness if that makes sense.
