I am wondering if it is possible to run the spindle while i use the pendent to jog my 5 pro machine? if it is possible is there a guide or some place that would show me how it is done step by step? I am trying to take my time with this so I do not get lost or overwhelmed by it. any help would be much appreciated thank you.
Carbide Motion implements a āsafetyā feature that turns off the spindle when you jog.
I do a fair amount of manual machining, so I went with gSender for my control software.
so there is no way to jog the machine with the spindle on?
You can jog it once, then it shuts off.
ok so if i want to plane off some patch stuff I can not do that with the pendent i would have to make a flatting program and run that ?
Essentially, yes. I havenāt tried it, but I suppose you could MDI it.
The other option being changing to a Gcode sender (controller) software that supports manual machining.
Yeah if youāre wanting to do these kinds of manual steps Iād recommend getting comfortable with another sender. Just in general youāll have more freedom to do āless safeā operations with a third party sender.
I have not played with the mdi yet. so i would be a bit afraid of wrecking something.
If you have CC on your shop computer, itās pretty quick to create a surfacing program.
I save mine off as something like surf_12x12.nc so I can reuse them.
We can add the ability to turn on the spindle with the jog pendant, but Iād always recommend a program for anything except a short, manual cut.
I am trying to patch and level my table again and mark Lindsay has a video where he trims the patch mitral using his pendant and i just wondered if that was possible? i can make a trim tool path if you think that may be better?
There is actually an existing wasteboard flattening setup somewhere for the SO5 Pro. I have used it and it was really easy.
I guess someone here knows exactly what I mean and can point to it? I canāt find it atm.
EDIT
Here it is: Shapeoko 5 Pro - 4x4 Flattening File by KevinBarnett
I have been able to jog and run the spindle at the same time. It will not work when the speed is set to Fast. One move on fast will stop the spindle.
