Quick question on remove lines on pocket

What but to use
Testing out a piece of bamx right now
And the lines I don’t want to sand at all
Is there a bit to use and what settings to set for a small cut or engrave finish pass?

Things to try:

  • adjust Stepover so that the blue preview lines are evenly spaced
  • adjust Depth per Pass so that an additional pass is made which removes only a very thin thickness of material, say if the Max Depth is 0.5" and the Depth per Pass is 0.125" resulting in four full-depth passes, reducing that to 0.124" will then result in five passes where the last pass removes 0.004" of material
  • use the new “Face” operation from the v8 beta to remove the final thickness of material after reducing the Max Depth to account for that final pass

Hey, thank you for the response for really quickly. I don’t have version eight beta. I have version seven. So the max depth on that is .5 inches so I was using a compression bit now. I don’t understand what bit to use next to get rid of those lines, I just do not feel like sanding that cause some of it is really tight and I can’t get a good piece of sandpaper in there to get rid of those lines so what bit would you suggest to use and do say .10 pocket on the D design I don’t know what step over I should use, but this is all new to me. I’ve never seen lines on stuff like that before. Granted, I’ve only got one finished product in a month and probably 10 boards that are trash right now because I tried to sprint before crawling.

William Adams I am running the same compression bit. I adjusted the step over. I’d have to look at the setting, but I only went down 4801 on a depth of that .5 and things are looking outstanding and I appreciate your help. I will update with the picture of the finish result when it’s done

Ok I just ran file again after changing parameters. So the pocket was .50 change things to start depth of .50 and in result is .60 please look at the pictures. I did not change any bit at all. I’m still using the compression bit that is aftermarket and I think he got rid of the lines now granted I change the file path and the step over so when I did a preview or whatever there were no lines at all. And everything was blue in the tool path. I think it’s something but I’m still concerned with this one little 12 x 24 pocket at half an inch took over 2 1/2 hours with a aftermarket compression bit that bothers me because it shouldn’t take that long. I don’t think if I had a template.

Of acrylic and a hand router I could do it a hell a lot quicker with a plunge router, but I’m so new and I don’t know all the ins and outs and I appreciate your help with it today

So let me upload the files and thank you for your help
