Retrieving an STL saved file

I am am new to CC. I have uploaded an STL file and I am able to manipulate it. It will simulate a carve but after saving it will not reload into the program. Do I need to convert the STL into a different format?
Thanks

CC converts it for you when you import it. Save the .c2d file in CC. The model should be there when you reopen the file.

Thanks for the response Tod,
I have opened and saved the file but CC gives a message that it is unable to open after the save?

What version of Carbide Create are you in?

Upload a screen capture of the message please.

Yeh, we may need to see the whole process. It should look something like…

Start CC
Job setup, set stock size, set thickness, choose zero point…
Model tab, Import STL File, select the .stl file
Select the orientation, XY scale, Z scale, Merge type, base, etc… Done
Show 3D

Save File. (This will save a .c2d file)
Close CC

Open CC
File → Recent File → The file you saved.

I think the problem is the original stl file. It doesn’t allow me to share it. My guess is when I save it to cc and then try to reload it hinks cc is a third party.
Below is the link to the file

i have the cc pro version

Jon,

Try saving it to your desktop and opening it there. Carbide Create has no idea when a file is from a 3rd party. Let us know what happens.

Interesting, I downloaded 3d_worldmap_v2.stl, imported it into a part & saved it.
I did notice the progress bar went to 50%, then disappeared.
When I opened it there was no error, but the model was missing.
I imported it again & saved, and this time the progress bar made it to 75% before flashing away.
I closed & opened the file & the model was there.
The file with the saved model is about 37mb. Pretty big but I have some bigger ones that open fine.

I have the file saved on my Mac. I have tried several times to download save and the reopen and always get the same message I posted earlier.

I gave up and found another stl file. This one seems to be working correctly.
Thanks for all the help folks.

The STL seems straight-forward:

aside from needing repair:

(which probably does not have anything to do with these issues)

and when downloaded locally imports into Carbide Create Pro as expected:

If we add toolpaths:

it previews as expected:

and if saved locally, and one quits and relaunches, loads as expected:

Too large to attach, copy on a Google Drive:

35 MB, be sure when saving to save to the local system drive.
