Merry Christmas. About to resume work on Christmas ornaments.
Crunch Bang Bang!
This morning when I started up my Pro XL and hit Initialize, the machine nicely moved the router from back center to the Home position; all normal. Then it headed for front and center for bit change. About the time that it got around 6" from the back end it made horrible sounds and jumped all over. I quickly hit the blue button to shut it off.
Manually, gently moved the gantry to the back and tried again, shutting it off very quickly the second try. No third attempt.
Found that I could manually move the gantry from the back about 6" and hit a hard stop. Eventually found that Left Y motor could wiggle from that position but the Right Y motor would not move toward the front.
My apologies. Stepper motor is NOT at fault. Something is hitting the controller standoff or something in the immediate vicinity. Think it’s a loose screw. Trying to pinpoint.
Two of the three screws that hold the piece to which the motor is secured to the small assembly that glides on the rails. With a little luck, I’ll attach a picture pointing to the guilty screws.
Here we go again! About to finish up an hours long project and as router was heading for front and center for a bit change, CLANK. Shut down fast and started searching. Culprit this time was a black wire tie holding a cable to the bottom of the nearer standoff for the control box. It had apparently loosened with time, rotated, and was hitting the standoff, jamming up "Y " axis travel. Rerouted cable so that problem should be gone.
