First off let me preface that I’m new to the CNC world and have been making mistakes but learning a ton and loving it. Also trying to use the right terminology so I’m sorry if I misspeak some words:
Is there supposed to be this much play/slop in the router carriage on the gantry? I have gone through all of the docs and it just says to tighten all of the nuts and bolts… Did that. Video below.
I got this used and it did good work until I put in a bit that I didn’t seat deep enough. When I went to test the spindle the shaft of the bit bent moving the housing around from it’s size and weight. I ended up rendering the bit unusable but was able to continue with the project. It is a guitar tray (learning how to pocket and such) and everything went well until I went to start the perimeter cut. After the 7/8 pass the whole slop started to happen. The casing was bouncing and the bit started to wonder on the project (shown in picture attached in link below) killing the project and making me notice the slop. I have made a few of these trays prior to this and I know the settings are good as far as speeds and feeds as well as bit choice. I’m reaching out to the community because I’m not sure if I remember this much play prior to the oops I made. I’m overly cautious at the moment and not sure if I should run the file again.
Please let me know if you need more details or video or anything to help get my nerves down and back up and running.
