Router chatters

Hi,
I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I have just completed assembly of my 4xxl and have two issues.

  1. the router didn’t move along the x axis during homing
  2. with power off and I manually move the router along the x axis it drags and chatters in spots. does not happen when I move slowly. only when I move it fast. Plus I saw a youtube video that says I shouldn’t do this without disconnecting the power to the x axis motor because this could damage a board.

comments?

  1. Check the X-axis motor connectors and wiring, and the pulley and its set screws and how the belt runs

  2. Correct. It is possible to push enough current back up to the board as to damage the stepper driver board

Let us know what you find out at support@carbide3d.com and we’ll do our best to work through this with you.

Always move slowly. Moving too fast causes the stepper motors to create an electrical field called EMF.
