So my family ordered me a shapeoko 4 xxl for Christmas/birthday, I am super excited. They ordered it from a black Friday deal they found on matterhackers and the router is on backorder with no ship date estimated. Any insight? I know this was a popular deal and they ordered it from a 3rd party site but I am dead in the water with no heart for my machine.
Congratulations. What a great Christmas gift. My understanding is that Makita has a compact router which will work quite well. If it were me I would order a Makita from somewhere nearby and then have the Carbide 3D router as a spare when it arrives. I don’t think I would be able to wait.

As @rnicolson noted, the Makita RT0701 is a drop-in replacement for a Standard Carbide Compact Router — uses the same bearings, brushes, collets, nut, motor, and motor housing — differences are shorter power cord, different control layout, dial which lacks a detent and may vibrate off a given speed setting, and it’s teal.

That’s a deal breaker for me
