Saving projects in Carbide Create

Hi All, First time CNC user here. I have my Shapeoko assembled and have bee practicing working on how to use Carbide Create. I finished a test project, ran the simulation, and went to save it. I believe the 3 options to save were Shapeoko 3D, Nomad 3D, Save G Code. I selected G Code. I believe I should have selected the Shapeoko option. Now, if I try another test project, I do not get an option to save for Shapeoko. Any tips on how to change the setting would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks Will. I made the change, but it is still only showing as a folder with a NC file. So, I’m not sure if this is correct. I thought when I was watching YouTube videos doing research, that people had a Carbide Create icon where the g code was saved. Thanks again for any help.

You will need to select where you want saved files to go. After that selection, it will automatically go to that folder.
fwiw… place the folder into your documents and create a shortcut for your desktop.

The GCODE files that CC saves (if you choose Shapeoko post processor) has the extension .nc - so you’re likely in the right place.

File management should be considered before you get much further. I have a “cnc_router” folder a “projects” folder and each project has a folder. I create a “gcode” folfer in the project folder. Recommend using a version number in cc file with date. For the gcode file list bit numbers.

These are small things but when you get hundreds of projects you will see the value.

…and within each project folder is the final design and machine file, with older files stored in an archive folder.

Hope this helps.
