Hello! This is my first post here on the forum and I was hoping to draw on some knowledge and expertise.
I’ve done a ton of V-Carved signs and every now and then I come across a certain issue. When I select the Advanced V-Carve option in Carbide Create the software will simply choose to omit sections of an image. These omitted sections are usually circular or trace the general pattern of the image.
Usually I can get by with manually routing out these sections but it would be great to understand why this is happening so I can fix it at its core. I have searched a lot of resources for an answer but I can’t seem to describe it well enough in search to find the exact problem.
I have attached a couple of images that show the issue. Thanks for your help in advance!
I dont know the size of that golf flag image you attached. But from what I am seeing the larger circle is your end mill toolpath and the rest in dark blue is your vcarve tool. It appears the end mill is only small enough to do that little circle and the end mill won’t fit in the corners so it uses the v mill for pocketing.
If you simulate the toolpath does it show all is being cut?
I sure do! I’ll first select advanced v-carve and set my depth and other options. Next I’ll check the enable pocket tool and set the parameters for that as well.
I’ll also use the v-bit to pocket the area in this example. The simulation will show the entire area being pocketed but the non-blue circle won’t have any texture (ridges) in the simulation.
The texture or ridges is just a simulation that happens in carbide create when the vbit is used to pocket small areas. My guess is since it’s such a small stepover it shows up as this texture or ridge look.
I am also having an issue with this - I am trying to v-carve some Futhark runes for a friend and the toolpath keeps ignoring my M’s and I’s, even though they’re not really any thinner than the rest
Usually this is caused by stacked/doubled geometry — if that’s not it, please post the .c2d file or send it in to support@carbide3d.com and we’ll do our best to look into this w/ you.
