Setting the order of cuts

I am cutting gears. If the gear teeth are cut before the center, the gear will be loose and the center cut won’t be accurate. Is there a way to make the cnc cut the center first then the outside? Both gears I have cut start outside then inside. Thanks.

Two separate toolpaths, move the one you want cut first above the other in the ordering.

Use tape and glue to hold the gears down.

Good advice, if you’re not sure how to do this, here’s a video about it.

You could also use tabs but you must cut them off very carefully so as not to change your gear profile. Either tabs or the painters tape and glue method should be used. If you cut a part loose without tabs or the glue down method the part can be thrown around and are not safe for you or the part.
