My inclination to use threaded inserts would be to pull one slat, clamp it upside down to another slat using longer bolts, machine a row of holes down the center, insert the threaded inserts, reinstall, and repeat for the others.
Thanks, I read that one. I’ve downloaded that file three times and it still will not load into my carbide3d software.
It gives me an error each time saying, it can’t be loaded.
There is nothing magic to making a grid. Just draw the lines up in CC the way you want.
I thought about it and have not done it yet.
I used the holes with PVC cutoffs for my repeatable position on my old machine and plan to do it on the new one as well.
My advice is to make sure there is room to the left and in front of your holes such that the clamps you use can be positioned properly. On my last one I put the holes a touch to close to the front.
EDIT:
When planning your grid make sure the lines in the Y axis you care about hit on the slats. You may want to model the slats in just to make sure your lines will appear where you want them.
I already had the idea of doing something like this.
A year or so ago I read something about being able to set up coordinates in the software as one of several standard repeatable points but I can’t seem to find anything in motion to do such a thing.
Do any of you know where to find this area?
I also downloaded the L-bracket file.
I going to mount it on the left side and see which one I prefer.
