Shapeoko 3 XL stops moving during cuts

hi all,

i have my XL for 3 weeks now, and had already a lot off fun with it.
but the last 3 times i used the XL the carbide motion software sees to stop working, the router stops moving in any direction.

i had to switch off the router, power of the XL and let the carbide motion reconnect to the XL, and do the whole project again.

tried already an other usb port, blow out the dust, rebooted the pc.

Do you have any kind of dust extraction on your machine? If so, I suspect you are having the dreaded static disconnect. Many on this forum have had it, including myself. I corrected it by using a carbon impregnated, conductive hose . This has a wire coil running through it. I clip a wire to that coil with the other end of the wire going to my house ground. Since doing that I have not had the problem.

Please contact us at support@carbide3d.com and we’ll get this worked out with you.

As @ctdodge noted, it’s most likely EMI — the community has notes on this at: https://wiki.shapeoko.com/index.php/Electronics#Recommendations but from support we have a short 10 point list we can work through with you.

had is with a dust extraction and without.

i will contact support, this evening when i’m at my machine.
do i need to forward specific info?

Let us know what you’ve tried and also try to run an “air job” where there’s no stock in the machine and the router is off — that’s the first canned response/request — the second is a stock set of things to check/review.

did not have that much time yesterday, but tried adding a few point to connect to the earth.
-> added on the left side of the frame
-> on top of the Z acces
-> the router mount.
rerouted the cable of the router from the left side to the right side

but still had a lot of disconnects
did not do an ‘air job’ yet (will try that today)

will keep this updated
