ShapeOko 5 pro threaded rods specs

I ran into this at MakerWorld: https://makerworld.com/en/models/120092-rod-sloth-fits-most-3d-printers.
It is called a Rod Sloth. It seems it ccould be useful for cleaning the threaded rods on the ShapeOko but I don’t know what to use for all the parameters.
The basics I can get from the 5-Pro specs:

  • X and Y rod: 16mm diamter, 20mm pitch
  • Z rod: 16mm diameter, 10mm pitch
The other paramters I need are thread angle and finger thickness and depth.

Has anyone else tried these tools? Any suggestions for values to use?

The Shapeoko 5 Pro does not use threaded rods. It uses ball screws. I believe they also have built in wipers. They are quite different. You don’t need a tool like that to clean them. I just use a lint free cloth when I need to clean ball screws on other machines (I don’t have a S5P).

Ok, I wondered what a ball screw was. It looks a lot alike from the outside. After watching an animation online, I now understand.

Having a 3d printer tends to make one try to use it to fix everything, even things not broken.

Thanks for the enlightenment.

Thread angle probably doesn’t matter, as there is no side wall to the threads/grooves.

Best bet is to measure the grooves width & depth & use that for the fingers. Perhaps a bit smaller on the width to allow for the rag between the rod-sloth & ballscrew.
