I’ve got a standard S3 and a SuckIt dust boot. But I’m having a problem where the bottom of the Shapeoko router runs into the router shield on the SuckIt. Has anyone else run into this?
I emailed SuckIt about the problem and got back two suggestions - remove the router shield or switch to the 1" brush. I already tried removing the router shield which, or course, kept the router from running into it…but it also decreased the efficiency of the dust boot.
Am I setting the dust boot too high? I normally set it where the brushes just touch the work surface. Should I force it down more, bending the bristles before starting a job? Or should I switch to the shorter brush?
I have found it all depends on what you are working on, how low the boot is set and how deep you are cutting. I have accidentally crunched a few of them lol. If its a deep cut you are in danger of breaking it pretty much no matter what, if you are cutting something tall and have to raise the shield you cant go deep with it…
Might want to remove it for deep cuts and reinstall for mostly level work…
