Shapeoko to create brushed aluminum effect?

To create the brushed effect all the strokes need to be symmetrical, so doing it by hand has room for error. I’m thinking about taking an old 1/4 endmill, chopping off the tip then welding an attachment to it that can hold a scouring pad. From there I’d run it over the workpiece.

Seems like a good idea. In my head at least. lol. Thoughts?

I find that the spindle is a little too fast, but here is something I did about 18 months ago on the Shapeoko3 I hot glued a 3M Scotchbrite to the head of a 1/4-20 flathead screw, and then a piece of 120 grit paper to the Scotchbride (This acted a cushion/spring).
