I’m seriously thinking of shortening the lead line on my BitZero so it is more manageable. Has anyone ever done this before? Or what are your thoughts on this?
When I’m using a BItZero on a Standard-size machine I just tuck the excess length underneath the foam the machine is sitting on and run it out at the front-left corner.

I just installed a new bitzero on my new to me 4XL and am still trying to figure out where to run the wire as well. The wire on it is heavier gauge than the one on my 4S so it’s not as pliable. On the 4S I ran it around the back and up the left side of the machine but the XL is wider so it’s not as good to run it the same way. For now I just have it hanging on the right side but need to find a better place for it.
The non-plyableness of the cord has led me to just throw my BitZero on a shelf under my table so I don’t have to unroll and straighten it out every time I use it. It’s just a little awkward for something I use almost every time I start a new project.
It’s just three small wires, splicing the leads should be very straightforward. If you want to get fancy with it you could splice in silicone wire for maximum pliability. If you want to get really fancy you could use magnetic quick disconnects.

Magnetic connectors: just make sure whatever you get won’t connect the wrong way round.

Why not just roll up the excess cord and put a wire tie on it to effectively shorten the cable. You may someday need the extra length to reach somewhere other where you normally zero from.
I have a little shelf on the front of my table and just wrap the wires around the shelf and let the magnet dangle. If the magnet grounds it will cause problems with the BitSetter. The BitZero and BitSetter are tied together on the controller. A few people have let the magnet for the BitZero touch the frame and caused the BitSetter to fail. Just keep the magnet away from a ground when not in use.
