Show Simulation becomes useless if. .

I’m working with both 3D Toolpaths and standard Pockets. Here’s a shot after creating a 3D element and then working on a 2D pocket:

The simulation:

Fine. But if I disable the 3D elements:

I get this for a tool path simulation:

You can’t just zoom in on the rendering. As you enlarge it, it begins to jump uncontrollably around then off the screen and can’t be inspected.

This also happens when you Show 3D in the model window with the layers disabled.

What is your Stock Size?

If you make a 25mm x 25mm stock and preview it in Toolpaths I get:

and in the 3D Preview:

(this is in 812, please try updating first)

If you’re still having trouble, use “About Carbide Create” | Open Data Directory and go into the Carbide Create folder and rename the “Settings.ini” file to “Settings.bak”, quit and relaunch Carbide Create.

If you still have a problem let us know in the Beta thread.

My “stock size” is 200 mm x 200 mm which I always use on my Nomad. I installed 812 and also did as instructed with the Settings.ini.

I now get a new version of the same issue. The simulation is front and center as it should be but will rapidly disappear offscreen when attempting to rotate. If I continue to attempt rotation in increments alternating with moving the view down to keep the stock in view, the stock gets smaller and smaller as if getting further away. It’s evident the pivot point for the rotation is not within the stock but well below it.

Oops, negate some of that. After the program is restarted the issue is the same as it was for 810.

(However I have a workaround. If I hide only the “base” element in the Model, leaving the heightmap active, the simulation behaves as expected. I was trying to remove distracting elements from the display with these inactivations but evidently the height map doesn’t show by itself because it’s a subtractive element.)

Will report in the v8 beta thread.
