I plan on cutting wood with my SOXXl but then I also plan on getting the HDM to cut aluminum and other materials. I currently program Inconel and Titanium using Siemens NX at work. My question is. Is it possible to use a basic 3 axis milling post on a router. Also if not where can I find sample programs and instructions for the Shapeoko so I can create my own post?
I just mentioned post & sim kit in another topic.
Here they are:
Post only: shapeoko_hdm_post.zip - Google Drive
Sim Kit: shapeoko_hdm_kit.zip - Google Drive
The sim kit also has a “Test Part” folder with a couple parts & a test.c2d file for simulating external programs.
thank you that will be the first thing I try out. Glad to have a NX expert on the team.
Do you use any of the woodworking software for the vcarve toolpaths?
I use CC for V-Carving. One thing NX is not really good at. It’s not impossible, but not very elegant. And you would need to design the bevels in the solid model to do it effectively. Plus there is no direct way to import .svg files into NX. You have to convert to dxf or another format then import it.
All of my metal/aluminum work is done in NX. A lot of hobby work I just use CC.
