new user with Pro XXL and having trouble with sign - trying to leave letters height of material and cut out around them. Any help is appreciated. I am running CC version 757.

Opened your file and got:

38 vectors used for the large lettering, so we simplify that a bit:

This would seem to be the original geometry:

to resolve the overlap, go into Trim Vectors:

and click on what is not wanted:

until one arrives at:

OK

OK

then use Join Vectors to close:

The text seems to have changed size:

so we restore that and delete the extra geometry to arrive at:

The most straight-forward way to make the requested cut:

leave letters height of material and cut out around them

Is to draw the surrounding geometry:

(it may be any shape)

Select it and the elements which you wish to stand as islands in the toolpath:

and then assign an Advanced V carving toolpath with the Pocket Clearing Option:

Trying to use a contour will raise the problem of whether or no a tool can cut a given interior feature.
