Hi, I hope someone can help me with a problem that I’ve run into with my HDZ upgrade. As part of the kit I’ve received some plates that stick onto the X and Y1 rail effectively pushing the drag chains off the rail (further away from the centre of the rail) On the Y rail the instructions have the tail end of the drag chain moved substantially closer to the front of the machine; it pretty much lines up with the front of the pcb enclosure where it previously lined up with the back of the enclosure. and the photo in the instruction sheet shows the wires exiting the drag chain and routing through a notch in the pcb board enclosure. Now, my problem is that my pcb board enclosure does not have the same notch; it has 3 holes on the bottom of the enclosure instead. With the drag chain in it’s new position the wires are not able to wrap around the enclosure and reach where they need to go. So, my question is: can I not just return the drag chain back to where I originally had them? Is the a functional reason for the move related to the new proximity limit switches that I’m just not seeing?
I hope I managed to word this in a way that makes sense, I’d appreciate any help I can get with this!
You may position the end of the drag chain wherever you wish by either using the flat plate and matching adhesive or by drilling and tapping new holes.
Thank you Will. Is there any reason to move the drag chain off to the side of the rail? I had already drilled and tapped a couple holes at it’s previous position and I’d like to just go back to that spot but I’d also have to use the previous bracket for the head of the chain. I guess I just found it strange that these other parts were included if they don’t make a functional improvement.
Very true! I understand the complexity of being inclusive of the various design changes that have taken place over the years. I’ll move the chain back to where it was and all should be good I think. Thanks Will.
