SO5 Aluminum Fixture Plates

Has anyone found a source for a fixture plate which fits the Shapeoko 5 Pro?

I doubt you’re going to find them yet since the machine just started shipping two weeks ago. If anyone it will likely be Saunder’s Machine, but I don’t know if they have one yet.

Hey @Vince.Fab y’all getting your hands on one?

Further to Josh’s comment, Saunders are happy to talk custom, give ‘em a call.

I just reached out to SMW and they have confirmed they are working on a fixture plate for the SO5!
Don’t know when it will be released, but I’d imagine within the next few months.

Did they say if they are going to do it like the hobby plates as m6 or do it 1/2-13 like the HDM.

They didn’t mention any specifics. Hoping they offer both standard and metric. :hand_with_index_finger_and_thumb_crossed:

I’m guessing they are going to go m6 like their other hobby grades, I’m just secretly hoping they go 1/2-13 since I’ve got a bunch of vices and hardware for 1/2-13.

Would actually love to see a 1/2-13 with m6 offset in the gaps on the same pattern. Would be a ridiculous amount of holes to plug though I was amazed how long it took to put all the plugs (960) in the Hdm.

Didn’t realize there were that many holes! Where did you find plugs? McMaster?
Ideally, I think I’d want M6 threaded holes with alternating thru holes for dowels. Will just have to wait and see what they come out with.

Not sure how they do the hobby plates, but on the thicker plates they bored to .5005 for dowel pines for the first half of the depth then threaded in the bottom of the hole so you can use either dowels or fixturing screws in any hole.

The plugs are sold by Saunders, but I know some people have 3D printed out of tpu.

No need to secretly hope, give ‘em a shout, they really do listen.

You do need to be cognizant of any given machines intended use and model accessories accordingly.
