SO5 Rapid Travel Noise

Anyone help me diagnose this? I’ve already found the left side Y axis limit switch loose and a screw had fallen out. Fixed that.

When traveling on the X Axis… it makes the same noise at the same spot. Is this an issue?

Many have reported loose bolts/screws on new machines. If you have not already check all the bolts and screws. The couplers for the ball screws have come loose or were never tight on several people’s machines. So check everything and see if that help. If this is a new machine it is not likely a lube problem but if you have had it a while maybe check out the lubrication of the rails.

I’d say look at all the bolts and stuff to make sure they are tight. My SO5Pro had a number of them that didn’t look like they were loose, but did need tightened. That should help quite down your machine.

I’m guessing this is an issue. I have two of them like that. Maybe 3. Have to get to the other side.

@WillAdams can you assist with this? Is it just the nut that needs tightened down?

Anyone having difficulty w/ their SO5 hardware should write in to support@carbide3d.com — we have a PDF on checking/tightening all this (it boils down to, find all the hardware fasteners and tighten them up to a reasonable degree).

I’m going to take the collars off and tighten it as well as the y axis. They all seem to be able to rotate at least a half a turn if not more. X and Y

I sent an email with the attached videos. I just hate being down all weekend with a brand new machine. Thank you for the suggestion.

Customer Service reached out and said a bit of frame noise is expected and totally normal and that it was running normally. No issues detected.
