SOLD: Carbide VFD Spindle Kit

I’m upgrading to a 2.2kw 220v spindle, so i’m selling my Carbide VFD, it’s been used for about 7 months.

It will be available in about 4 weeks, but wanted to get this posted as I didn’t know how long it would take to sell.

I’m asking $600. Please contact me with any questions.

Where are you located?

Yup, sorry, Madison, WI but can ship.

Hey Chris,
Saw you live in Madison. I live in Mount Horeb and am considering getting into CNC. Is there an area group of Shapeoko owners/CNC users for someone new like myself? Thanks. Sorry this had nothing to do with your post, but, who knows… might be a potential buyer.

Hey!

I don’t know how many people are around here but I am happy to help, you can stop by sometime if you want and I can run you through the machine.

My production has ramped up quite a bit so I wanted to get a more powerful spindle and I have plenty of 220v capacity in my shop.

I have been trying to decide if switching to a spindle on my Pro XXL (not 5 pro) is worth doing or if I should just wait until I can justify jumping to the 5.

I am not worried about the noise. So are the other benefits of the spindle worth it? I have the Z Plus, not the HDZ.

Chris, here’s my email. Contact me and we can get together. Thanks!

Well noise for a lot of people, it is stupid quiet when it’s running (not cutting).

But I think the biggest advantage of any VFD is g-code control of the speed and on/off. I can use the same bit and run multiple tool paths at different speeds automatically depending on the operation i’m running.

Spindle would run on either machine, so I don’t think waiting really gets your anything, unless there is just other things on the Pro 5 over the XXL, like ball screw rails etc. Tons of people run belts without issues, even if the ball screws are technically “better”.

Good point. I have to alter the speed manually. Sometimes I use that to my advantage though and put a fictitious speed change in if I want the machine to pause at a certain point.

Does the VFD/spindle adjust to try to maintain the desired speed under load?

That i don’t know to be honest.
