Spii oh node collet too small?

Howdy support and community

Is it me or are the collets that come with the VFD spindle kit too small for the 1/8 and 1/4” bits?

#1) I put the collet in first and then I can’t get the bit in.

#2) I can get the bit into the collet and then put them both in the spindle. And then screw on the locking nut. Just doesn’t seem the same as when I put the collet in first sing my Makita router.

Please confirm the way #2 is safe?

#2 is not safe, and is wrong, and could damage the collet, the tool, or the machine.

You need to snap the collet into the nut as noted in the instructions.
