Spindle/vid not working

Totally new to Cnc. Just got my 5.1 set up, did a very basic design for a first cut and got everything ready. When I tried to run it my vfd/spindle won’t spin. Light is on on the push button on the vfd. Spins by hand. Ran the warmup routine Nothing. Rechecked all the connections. Still nothing. I emailed support but being a Sunday I haven’t heard back yet. Any suggestions? Should anything be lit in the viewing window on the front of the vfd?

Yes, you should have indication of some sort on the VFD display window.

@EMP do a search on the forum for Spindle/Vfd not working. There’s been a few of these threads lately and its usually an easy fix

Check the power switch on the side of the power supply. That stumped me for a few minutes.

Probably not your case, but in my upgrade from router to spindle, due to out of date documentation on C3d’s website, I didn’t know I needed to re-run the machine setup in Carbide Motion. Spindle actually spun for a second on power up so I thought I was good - until I ran the warm-up routine, which did nothing.

After running setup, it works fine. It’s almost plug-and-play.

There is a board inside the VFD that CC adds. Is your light ring dimmer than normal? Is so, I would suspect this card. I dont know if yours is under warranty but the card is 79 dollars. I did buy the card but was able to replace the faulty transistor myself. It was a surface mount device and it helps if yo have good soldering skills. I kept my new card for a back up. I did notice that the new card is a newer version and they have eliminated the transistor in question.

Ignore my comment did not realize that it was a new machine…

Marc, that was it. A hidden little power switch where the power chord plugs into the vfd. Thanks!!!
