Stowable Mouse Pad Tray for Wire Shelving

I designed and built a stowable tray for use as a mouse pad table on a standard wire shelving unit.

This is a hybrid design of 3D print (PLA) and milled aluminum (1/8", 1/2" and 3/4" 6061). Workholding fixtures are 3D printed.

Joints are cut from 1/2" aluminum 6061. Initially I set up the jobs for two parts at a time. Subsequently I lost a part to a broken tap, and switched to single part cutting workflow.

Feeds and speeds are generally 20ipm/10ipm horizontal/vertical. Prefer the 1FL ZrN SQ.

This first part has pilot holes drilled for hand tapping. The second part will receive pilot holes in a different operation.

After slotting. The unfinished part on the right has extra material removed by an offset error, and was subsequently re-cut after the hand tap broke inside it.

The table is 8x8x1/8 6061. Two milled holes.
