Strange dig outs

I don’t know what to call these. Look at the sign on the left. Lower left corner is very obvious. Why did that not come out smooth? I saw these types of dig outs in other sign but not as prominent as this. Any advice on why this happened and how to avoid it would be appreciated.

Check the original vector for extra nodes.

What he said. And zoom in on the radius for each area, from the pictures it looks like the problem areas have some kind of funny curve and or sections of straight lines going on. If that is the case you can try smoothing the nodes.

I suspect, although I could be wrong, that something on the machine is loose and the cutter is grabbing and digging in. If you can post the file, we can take a look and see if it’s toolpath-related.

I’ll check them out. The simulation doesn’t show those at all.
Thank you.

Can you post the file please.

Ok, I went in and used the corner tool to see the extra nodes and removed them along the outer edge. But check this out. Look at the 2 knives. The one on the left has those indents. I just don’t see why it does that.

Because the two knives are different sizes:

Why would being a different size cause those indents?

Because they interact differently w/ the surrounding geometry — try flipping the two knives in place:
