Struggling with straight lines

Any tips or tricks to getting straighter lines would be very much appreciated. I know this is a simple project but I’m still at the simple stage lol.

Thanks,

In Carbide Create the only ways to get straight lines are to draw from grid-point to grid-point, or to draw a rectangle and then edit it down to only what is wanted.

What line are you having difficulty making straight?

Hey Will,

I was just going over the lines making sure it was straight and a lot were off by just a little but noticeable when I ran the simulation. Using the rectangle method would probably work better for me and will give that a shot.

One other note on this, I created this offset on the inside as I want to do an epoxy inlay and needed a separation for the two colors. Is there something I can do to square out those corners or create the outset a different way to it has those crisp lines?

When offsetting, Carbide Create rounds things off when going to the outside.

To square off the rounded insets draw a rectangle:

Then select both pieces of geometry:

and use Region Builder:

to select what one wants to keep:

Done

Select and delete the now redundant geometry:

Repeat for each corner.
