I have created an svg file in silhouette business and the try to open it in carbide create but nothing happens. Nothing shows up. It was saved as an svg file, I have the newest version of carbide create, but still nothing. How do I fix this issue??
Is the silhouette a vector or is it an image embedded in an svg?
Try typing “F” after importing. This will “Fit View To Job”.
You need to either export from Silhoette in such a way that objects are not stored internally and used by reference:
such are referred to as “Clones” in most drawing programs:
Or open it in a 3rd party SVG editor, ungroup until you arrive at the Clone objects, and then use a command to convert the object(s) into paths — Path | Object to Path in Inkscape:
You can then save the .svg and open it in Carbide Create:
Attached as a v7 .c2d file:
dog_v7.c2d (124 KB)
Thank you I will have to get inkscape now, lol.
It really should be possible to export from Silhouette Studio in a way that this is not necessary.
is what I thought. I have done it before and there was a simple fix, I just can not figure out what it was. and now I am trying to save the GCode but there is not button that says save GCode and the file doesn’t open in carbide motion. It says there is an error within the gcode.
In the new v7 G-code is stored in the .c2d file, see:
thanks, I have the v7, so I guess I just have to figure out why there is an error in my toolpaths.
It may be that you need to update Carbide Motion:
