My screws just backed out and the assembly fell during a cut. Not a great outcome. This is my second one. First one I put loctite on the screws to avoid this and the loctite ate the plastic and destroyed it. Just ordered a third (stupid me?). Third times a charm.
Try a little nail polish on the screw threads. Remove the screws one at a time, brush a drop on the first 5 or so threads and screw it back in. I used clear because that’s all my wife had. The nail polish should get between the threads and the nut and do it’s hardening thing. Seems to hold good for me.
This had been a constant issue for me until I mentally made it part of my cutter changing process. I check those *%$& things every time. Now it’s just part of the procedure. Use a sign or something to remind you to check the dang things. It will soon become a good habit.
Poor design, for sure. I took the little cylinder out of the sweepy that let’s it use the cam lever for adjustments - and put in nuts with locktite. That Works. PITA to change the height…but at least screws aren’t falling onto my workpiece during a cut.

I found using small pieces of leather keeps the bolts from loosening on my Sweepy 2.0

I have also had this happen to me. The screws fell off and the metal pin dropped onto my project and shot across the shop when the spindle hit it. A design flaw for sure that could be fixed with a simple rubber washer.
True enough. That’s what keeps my pistol in the holster. A washer is just enough back pressure to keep those screws in place. Good idea!
