I’m currently using the Sweepy v1 and looking at the Sweepy 2 so I can run the larger diameter hose as well as have more flexibility on height.
However, there is one thing I struggle with constantly (Sweepy 1), and that’s when using a 25.4mm dish carving bit, mostly on Oak. I use this a LOT. Due to the size of the bit head, the chips that come off constantly clog by first sticking to the brush and then build up around the bit head so that the vacuum can’t pull them through. This results in a completely clogged system that just makes more and more chips trapped within the brush space. While I can fix it by setting the Sweepy a little lower, this then reduces the clearance height over the part.
It would be good to have the (paid) option of a larger diameter base so the brushes are a few mm further away (maybe another 10-20mm), which would allow a little more clearance for chips.
If not, are there any public drawings for the base so I can 3D print my own?
Thank - I understand the brushless box, but that just means the chips fly out and this only picks up the fine dust. I still need the brushes, just further away
I used my Winston (as we call the brushless bottom) to make a version w/ slightly longer brushes, which I was able to offset to the outside a bit because of how much greater its diameter is than the stock brushed shoe.
We do have an alternative bottom design in development which might be more workable for this.
