Text in an arc on shapeoko

I just downloaded carbide create v7 I had no problem in putting my text in an arc on top and bottom but when I went to save it as nc it would only save it c2d and then the shapeoko said " bad characters in g code" HELP what is the problem?

You can post your file here and we’ll take a look at it.

Did you get the error one time, or multiple times?

CC V7 does not output gcode unless you pay for the pro version. So the free version does not make .nc files and only saves in the .c2d file. The recent versions of Carbide Motion take the .c2d file and strip out the gcode that is encoded inside the .c2d file. In previous versions of CC like v6 you saved the design file and also the gcode file. Starting with v7 there is only one file and the gcode is encrypted inside the .c2d file.

This was done for a couple of reasons but the main one was that C3D was supporting people using 3rd party machines and using the free Carbide Create. C3D supports their Shapeoko/Nomad customers but did not want to support 3rd party customers for free. So if you have a 3rd party machine and want support you have to buy the Pro option. It was a business decision that supports the customers that has paid to buy C3D machines. You can still get v6 CC and use a 3rd party machine but your only support is here on the forum.

If the nc file is encrypted in the c2d file why do I get error message bad characters in g code and cannot carve in an arc? Of what use is the v7 file if the shapeoko will not carve with it?

it has happened every time I have tried it at least 6 times. I will post the file tonight. Thanks

What version of Carbide Motion are you using?
It should open the C2D file directly.
