Texture etching leaves areas untouched

Only time I’ve ever had this issue was if my depth was not deep enough. But this time it is very repetitive over the same marks and just keeps going deeper. But it is still not getting cut in certain locations of the image. I have tried with all defaults and still same issue. I’m ready to throw this one out and try on new material but hate to give up just yet.

Software: Create v6 & Motion xxx
Tool: 90° MC Etcher
Modified texture settings in Create

  • feed rate from 60 to 85
  • angle from 20 to 35
  • step over variation 35-50% (tried both and didn’t really see any difference)
  • reduced Min length
  • increased Max length
  • min/max overlap 50%

Any ideas?

This should be by design/your settings — does the preview not match this/show this?

Nope. The preview and simulation show full coverage of the texture.

I typically run the texture of the design then do a contour with No Offset to give it a crisp line. Both with the same depths. That is why this confused me because the contour came out as expected but not the texture.

I see gaps in the preview/simulation which match where there are gaps.

Adjust stepover and the other settings until you arrive at settings which cut as desired.

Thanks Will! I was trying to find where you saw the gaps in the image. After removing the toolpaths and rapids I can now see what you mean. I will play with this some more to get it better. I appreciate the help!
