Tiling malfunction

I’ve encountered a tiling malfunction I can’t seem to correct. Project size is y35.5"x- x8". I set up for v-varve and selected the tiling function and reset the overlap to .25". Tile 1 for the bottom half and tile 2 for the top half. Set up and manual zero machine. tile 1 cuts perfectly. Tile 2 however, cuts the perimeter patten .25" inside the set parameters from the top edge. I have it set at .5" from top edge in design and the sim shows it correctly but it’s cutting it at .75" from top edge.

What am I missing?

What is your tile size? And how far are you moving the stock? (They should be the same)

17.75" x 8" I marked the centerline on the stock and moved it down to that mark for tile 2

OK, what is the “Tile Height” in the tiling setup screen, and how far are you moving the stock?
If your centerline isn’t EXACTLY the same as the Tile Height, it will be off.
So rather than marking centerline, make a mark EXACTLY the tile height from your first Y zero. Don’t include the overlap.

Is the tile height not also the centerline?

Only if your workpiece is EXACTLY 35.500" long And you’re precise it marking it.

I changed the overlap margin to .5 on tile 2 and it solved the problem…

Thank you Tod

Changing the overlap should make no difference, other than cutting an additional 1/4" into the previous cut.

If I have room, I like to use the machine to mark the new zero. Put a piece of tape near the 17.75 mark & while your V-bit is in mark a line with a contour path & set the depth to 0.0001". It will cut a pretty fine line in the tape. Then use that when you move the piece & line it up with the previous zero.

I don’t know what to say. that was the only thing i changed and it worked out. but now unfortunately the half bling dovetail chisel work blew out the in one section, so I’ll get to do it all over again.

I definately give the tape line a go.

Thanks again!
