I was just wondering if anyone can share any tips for cutting softer gummier aluminum. I have a little side business making aluminum blanks for hand stamped jewelry and like to use soft temper 1100 alloy as it makes for really easy stamping. I’ve been thinking it would be great if i could utilize my pro xl to start cutting different shapes to offer but the 1100 is definitely proving to be a challenging material to work with. I always use single flute endmills for aluminum cutting but beyond that, i was wondering if anyone can share any tips that might help. Thanks.
Coolant and coated endmills will cover a myriad of ills in feeds and speeds and material selection.
