Tool database install

Hello all!

Recently my windows laptop became dysfunctional - at my hand - and I switched over to my Mac mini.

So far all works well except for two things.

Apparently C2D doesn’t sell a 30deg V-bit, so I purchased one from IDC.
I got their database and copied it into the tool directory.
Under “About” C3D, open data directory
I copied into the “Tool” folder.

I closed and restarted the software and everything is fine until I oped the the tool database or the Job setup screen. From there, all sorts of silly stuff happens.

two things:
1, I’m pretty sure I am adding the db to the correct folder
2, how come the factory db isn’t there?

The folder for the library is populated, but not the tool folder.

Anyone with Mac experience, please reply if you have someone to add to the conversation.

I’m running the latest software for motion and for create.

Thank you in advance.

I should add, I am using a 5 Pro

If I remove the CSV file from the tool directory and restart, all returns to normal.

Can you post screenshots of the contents of your “Tools” and “Default Tools” folder?

We sell a 30 degree V endmill from Amana:

#45771-K 30 degree engraver

it is entered in Carbide Create as an engraver:

The default tools are stored internally.

Ok, I figured out how to edit in a user added bit.
I’m wondering why we can’t add a bit or copy and paste a bit into the factory installed list.

It seems silly having to just to different trees to get one bit here and the others I use every day in another.

Well… thank you for ending my frustration.
I didn’t think to look under engravers for a V-bit.

Thank you very much.

The Default tool libraries are intended as a set of standard and unchanging (except when updated in new version) set of feeds and speeds which users may rely on.

If you wish you may duplicate them and edit the duplicates on your local install.
