I’ve just complete a little tray on my SP5 and I’ve noticed parallel line markings on the walls of the pockets. I’ve tried to find info on getting rid of these tooling marks but every search seems to talk about getting rid of the from the bottom of a pocket, not the walls.
Should I just be adding a full depth contour toolpath with an offset of, say, 0.1 mm to each of my pockets after they are completed?
To add to what @WillAdams said by finishing pass he means taking a few thousands off and a full depth cut. The lines are typical because the bit is leaving those lines. If you measure the line depths you will find they match your depth of cut per pass of the router bit. An out of tram spoilboard or a piece of material that is not flat will exaggerate the lines. If it is tram it is because the bit is slightly slanted and not cutting straight up and down. It only takes a few thousands to get lines on the sides of pockets or lines on the bottom of a pocket.
I can’t actually feel them with my fingers but I can see them, quite a strange feeling… It is likely that the pice isn’t truely flat I’ll admit that. Yes, they do seem to match the depth per pass, they’re very consistent. I did also add a slab of mdf on my bed, so I’ll also flatten that.
