Tool path lifts and plunges way too much in simulation

how can i reduce the amount of lifts and plunges with the router? when I view the tool path in Carbide create i can see that it lifts and plunges too much, causing rough edges.

I’m new to this program and equipment, so please be patient with me. Thanks for any help.

Usually you can optimize things by manually making toolpath assignments. There are third party utilities which will optimize G-Code.

how can you manually make toolpaths? and what are the 3rd party utilities?

To manually make toolpaths, assume you had an array of 50 stars — rather than selecting all 50 and assigning a toolpath, select each in turn and assign a toolpath manually.

I have no clue what I’m doing wrong. i made each word individual toolpaths and you can see that it lifts and plunges too much making the edges choppy. Are you able to look at this?

This should be improved in newer versions of Carbide Create — have you tried 431 or 432?

If that isn’t a sufficient improvement, then break up all the geometry, select each set of parts in turn (one letter at a time) and assign discrete paths thusly.

Alternately, use a 3rd party G-Code optimization tool.
