Tramming S5 Pro

Has anyone tried tramming a Shapeoko 5 Pro yet?

Yep… and that is easily the fastest I’ve EVER trammed a machine. Just one 0.010" shim in between the Z plate and the X carriage and some tilt on the spindle mount. Done in 15 minutes.

Step 1 - Surface a plate using a small stepover.

Step 2 - Use tram arm and shim stock to adjust the nod (tilt front-to-back). You can loosen the 4 bolts that hold the Z to the X plate, insert a shim towards the top or bottom, then tighten.

Step 3 - Loosen, then barely tighten the 4 bolts that mount the spindle/router mount to the Z plate. Give it gentle taps on the sides up or down with a soft mallet to adjust the side-to-side tilt.

If you’ve never done it, it can be tedious. Winston Moy has also done videos in it. If you’ve done it before, you may actually enjoy it on the SO5.
