Trouble with assembly of SO5 Pro 4x2

I am a newbie here.
I bought my 4x2 a couple of weeks ago and in the process of assembling I found several issues.

  1. on the HDZ mount - there was only 1 locator pin rather than 2 as described in the manual (and should really have 2 to hold the unit while bolting it in)
  2. One of the wires from the limit switch connectors was pulled out (I sort of patched it up)
  3. One of the connectors on the control board came loose
  4. Gantry LED lights were not coming on

I did connect with a support person after a couple of days and he was very helpful in trouble shooting. We powered it up and set up the bit setter, bit zero etc. They all came on line. Then when we tried to configure the machine, it showed up as limits reached ( I am not sure what the error is) Eugene the support person told me that that some parts need to be replaced and he was going to order them and expedite them. This was on Wednesday.

I did not get any confirmation of this parts being sent to me, despite assurance from Eugene. I contacted support yesterday and they sent me a tracking number for the shipment, but when I checked the tracking number I realized that was the same as the one given to me for another order I made earlier for their router. Now I am angry!. I spent $5000 on this machine and its now table weight. Never expected to have all these issues. I did quite a bit of research and picked Shapeoko based on feed backs I have seen on this forum and other videos I follow. This has been a very frustrating experience to start off. I need this to be resolved in a day or so or I am thinking about returning the machine.

Would appreciate if anyone here had similar experience - or this is a one off thing and I happen to be the unlucky winner…

Thanks

I found both of your tickets in our system which were opened, and will tag them with a link to this forum post and bring this up in team chat and we will work out how to handle this as soon as we can.

I just bought mine last week, it have not made it out yet from the US. I will initially going to buy the one infinity, but chose to buy this machine. I hope, I won’t have any trouble in my machine, I hope it will be a good machine. It still having issue crossing the boarder, it says free shipping, but I think I still have to pay crossing the boarder. it not really free shipping, but I hope it will come in one piece.

As noted at:

The key things to keep in mind when we’re shipping internationally is that you will be responsible for all customs/tariffs/duties/brokerage fees or whatever else those taxes and fees might be called where you are…

Well, it looks like the parts are actually shipped. I am hoping this works out after the parts arrive.

While I am disappointed that the machine had issues, from my research - Shapeoko is a very good machine and the build quality looks great on mine too. Its a beast. Just that I did not expect it to have issues from the get go. Hey, it happens. I will be happy to put this behind me soon I hope.

I must give their support team my Kudos. Eugene, with whom I connected to trouble shoot my issues, is really good. He spent nearly 2 hours on a call stepping through various things related to assembly.

I will be sure to come back and update my experience here…
