Today I downloaded the most recent version of Carbide Create and decided to try the Pro version to make a sign for a friend. I want letters raised from the background and liked the effect of a ball nose bit using the facing tool path. I thought I had everything set up and tried the settings out on MDF. The facing toolpath worked as expected and removed the background. Started on the actual sign and the facing toolpath is now starting in a different place and leaving three places where it is not removing the wood. A picture and my file are attached and hope someone sees what I’m not so I can get this working again. I did pull up a
previous version of my file and noted the board width I used on the practice with MDF was 12 inches and the width of the actual board I’m using is 12.125 inches, so I centered everything on the 12.125 inch board width. At 12 inches the facing tool path works as expected, but at 12.125 it starts in the different position and leaves sections uncut even though all the vectors and shapes are the same size, just recentered on the 12.125 board. Hope this makes sense.
Thanks for any help and ideas.
The actual board is still screwed down to the waste board and hasn’t been moved.
