I am running into trouble with the simulation of ball mills. They show only as flat endmills. I’ve uninstalled Carbide Create and reinstalled. The version I have is Build 464, Built on: 2020-03-26. No change in the simulation.
How do I move past this one ?
This is a limitation of current versions of Carbide Create — I’m pretty sure older versions didn’t have this limitations and we’ve put in for it to be restored.
So its it a bit of guesswork then ?
Trial and error with back and forth running test jobs on the machine and adjusting ?
At this time, yes. But it’s more math than guesswork — I usually leave a step-shape and then trim it to round with the ball-nosed endmill, see:
