I own a heavily modified Shapeoko 1 with a Synthetos GShield V5 board driving it. Currently, it runs using GRBL 0.8c.
I want to add limit switches and a tool setter to it. If I’m going to muck with it that much, I’d like to bite the bullet and update GRBL to 1.1.
When I do so, I can’t get it to activate the motors in any way. GRBL runs and responds, but nothing moves. To be clear, if I load 0.8c firmware and configure it, everything works as expected. If I load 1.1h firmware and configure it, I can’t get the motors to work. My conclusion is the machine is wired properly etc., but that I am failing to do something simple to allow motion. I’m assuming that I’m not clearing some fault state or there’s some pin that’s being sensed by 1.1 that isn’t in the proper state. I have scoured the internet to no avail.
I hope someone can point me in the right direction or suggest ways to debug this. I do believe that it’s something dumb, but I can’t identify the problem.
Any help is gratefully accepted
