We are new to this CNC platform.
My son and I are trying to cut the outline of a devil picture and when I click on the outline and try to make a tool path on contour and pick no offset with 1/8 or 1/4 endmill bit it want to carve out the inside?
What are we doing wrong?
Please help
If you want to carve the inside you need to pick Pocket (tool path) rather than contour.
Have you watched the training videos at the Carbide 3-D website? They are very helpful and informative.
So if I choose pocket then it will cut out just around the devil and not on the inside?
I think I tried the pocket and made sure everything was the same on depth etc… and when I did the simulator it showed all of the inside of the devil cut out.
Here’s a link to the section of my.carbide3d.com that covers contour toolpaths:

Using an external contour should work. “No offset” will have the endmill follow the centerline, so it will cut inside by half the diameter
Thank you!
Will do.
I am so excited about this machine. The community and support has been off the chart so far.
