Total newb here with an odd problem I can’t seem to find the answer for. I have a shapeoko xxl and recently installed the Z axis upgrade from CNC4Newbie. After that I installed a SSR to turn on/off the spindle(carbide router) and after creating the macro in UGCS it works great when I hit the buttons I created. So I went Vcarve Desktop and created a cut file as I normally would and saved it as shapeoko Gcode. When I go into UGCS and bring in my file I take my machine to zero and turn on my spindle with the macro I created. When I hit the play button to send the file it attempts to run the file but turns off the spindle in the process. I have read that Vcarve was capable of turning on/off the spindle but I would need a 3rd party post processor. My question is…What am I missing or doing wrong. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
What Post Processor are you using?
Can you share your gcode? And the macro you’re using?
65mm Adapter.zip (5.6 KB)
Not sure how to share the post processor. I am sure its in the files for VCarve but I saved the file using the Shapeoko inch Gcode within Vcarve.
The one thing that I notice is happening is when I turn on the spindle using my macro which is (M3S10000) the led lights up on the relay but as soon as I send the file the Led is triggered off. Which tells me it shutting down the router. I just don’t understand why.
One other thing I’ve tried is opening the Gcode in notepad and adding the M3 S10000 to the start of the file and the same thing happens.
You have an S0M3 in your file. That will stop the router.
What do you have your speed (rpm) set to for tool 1?
So in Vcarve to tool spindle speed is set to 0!
It worked! Thanks for your help! I was stumped. I print signs and decals and if I can ever help you out I would be glad to return the favor!
Thanks to you i got my project finished! I needed an offset adapter because I bought a dust boot from amazon for an 80mm spindle. I plan to upgrade that next but in the mean time I will see how well this works for a cheap setup. I used 3/4" acrylic I had laying around to make this
