have file I made in V773 and not able to copy paste into V815 ? any idea what I’m doing wrong?
I believe copy-paste is only between the same version.
Ok, Sooo the only option is to cut file using V7 or remake in V8? Darn it! I was hoping it was an easy fix or lack of my knowledge.
I thought a V7 file would just open in V8, then one would be able to cut and paste from there?
I don’t have but a few V7 files before I started creating in V8, I have not ran into this as much as other folks.
Why not open in v7, re-save as v7, then open in v8?
All that would need to be re-created would be the 3D model — which can be exported and re-imported, see:

So far I have been able to open a v7 file and save as a v8 file, then copy between successfully. Maybe that’s the trick is getting it to be updated to v8 first?
I’ll try again, all my files are in same folder from 2019 to now V8, when I open up any version thats where it goes for .c2d .Should I have separate files for each Version of Create?
If you wish to open a v6 file in v8, it will be necessary to open it in v7, re-save as v7, then open in v8 then re-save in v8 (and if the project has 3D components, export them as a PNG from v6 or v7 and import the 3D model as pixel image as noted).
Okay, that worked by resaving the file in V7 then opening in V8 and saving as new file, I went ahead and just replaced the file with same name.
