I’m on a Shapeoko 3XL with Carbide Motion 618 and Carbide Create 774. Everything seems to be working great, except when the spindle/bit moves from one cut to another it moves up and down repeatedly (4-6 times) in one place before beginning cut, even on very shallow (1/10") cuts. Does not hurt anything, but adds a lot of time to total project cut. It does this on all types of vectors including those designed in Carbide Create. Is there some setting in Carbide Create or Carbide Motion that I’m missing to eliminate all the unnecessary repeated up and down motions in one place? Thanks.
What kind of carve is it? If it’s a VCarve or Advanced VCarve, it may be ‘picking’ the corners to make them sharper.
Can you post a C2D that you know does this?
This was improved in v8:
Thanks. That could be it - picking the corners. But it goes up and down several times on one place without any x or y movement. I’ll have to watch and see if there is a difference between contour and VCarve sections of the design.
And maybe this has been improved in V8 as William Adams mentions below.
Thanks William. I’ll check that out.
At the end of each letter there are multiple ‘picks’, all close together.
Here’s one end of a ‘t’ crossbar, from CC 805:
The light square is 1mm grid, so CC is still outputting ridiculously small movements. It’s hard to see, but there is a forth pick in there that I estimate is less than 0.01mm.
