Use of Ramping with wood

Simple question and maybe a request.
Working with wood. When should I NOT use ramping? It seems like it’s a stress reliever from plunging.

If the answer is nearly always, how about making that a default?

Usually ramping wouldn’t be used when one is in a hurry, or wants an efficient cut.

I only turn it on for cut where I’m concerned the entry will show when cutting wood.

Probably a silly question but what is ramping?

It is having a cut angle in for entry — it’s an option in Carbide Create Pro and some other CAM tools:
