Using "T" during modeling - not retaining the variable

I think this was covered already (and recently), but I can’t seem to find the discussion - so sorry if this was already answered:

When I model, I invariably will make the first component a FLAT component the height of the stock. I’d like to use “T” (or a function using T, like T-.5) in the Height parameter, so that, if I change the stock thickness later, the starting height of the modeling changes with it.

The Modeling interface allows T to be used, but immediately changes it to the empirical value of the stock thickness. It does not retain the “T” for future changes.

I assume this is bug? Can it be changed soon?

This is not a bug. Currently, the T variable is only linked to the current thickness of the stock for the toolpath depth fields.

As we look at modeling changes for CC Pro, and make it possible to edit the components after their creation, I think this might be something we’d look at adding.

It would be really helpful. Now that I’m doing a bit more modeling, I’m starting to see where things could streamline.

I’m doing a convex top to a box…so my modeling is:
Flat ; Height = T-.25; ADD
Round; Scale, Height =.25 ; ADD

Same thing on the cove for the inside of the box:
Flat: Height = T
Round; Scale, Height = .2 SUBTRACT

It would be great if I can change the thickness of the piece and not have to recreate the components (which I had to today). So, I vote for adding that into your rework of Modeling!
